Everything seems to be more expensive these days, even cleaning products. And if you want to have a spotless house, you probably go through a lot of them. If you’re looking to save money, one of the best ways is to buy cleaning supplies at your local Dollar Tree. It’s also a great place to experiment with new cleaning products without worrying too much about wasting money if you don’t like them. Here are eight essential cleaning supplies you can find at Dollar Tree.

Distilled Vinegar

Think of distilled vinegar as nature’s multipurpose cleaner. While you shouldn’t use it to clean absolutely everything (like granite and marble countertops) it’s both a natural and inexpensive way to clean a lot of things. Robin Murphy, president of Maid Brigade in White Plains, New York, calls it a must-have in any green cleaning kit. “I use it to clean countertops and glass—even freshen up the air in my home,” she says, “It works as a natural disinfectant and deodorizer and is an eco-friendly way to tackle buildup without harsh chemicals. I typically use white distilled vinegar to clean, but apple cider can work too.”

Distilled vinegar can also be used in the laundry on those extra stinky gym clothes and kids’ clothes. Just pour it into the fabric softener cup before you start the load.

Baking Soda

Why spend more on baking soda at a specialty grocery store when you can buy it at a fixed rate at Dollar Tree? “Baking soda is great for scrubbing away tough stains and deodorizing,” says Murphy. “I sprinkle it on surfaces like sinks and tubs to scrub away grime, and it works great on carpets and upholstery to eliminate odors. It’s gentle enough to use on all types of surfaces but powerful enough to get the job done.”

Lastly, keeping an open box of baking soda in the fridge is an easy and cheap way to contain unpleasant food odors.
